George Kattermann
Board Chairperson
George Kattermann purchased his home in Rio Verde in 1998 and became a full time resident in January of 2000. George is currently active in the Rio Verde Skeet Shooters group and plays golf regularly.
In December of 2009 George was appointed to the position of District Resident Member of the Local Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) Board to fill a vacant position. He was appointed to the Fire Board in January 2010. His assignment on the Board is Human Resource policies and procedures and is also currently overseeing the construction of the new addition to house the new rescue unit. George has served on the Rio Verde Community Association Board since March 2009 and was elected Vice-President in March of 2010.
George attended the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University.
George served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1961. He spent his entire career in banking at the following institutions: Dover Trust Company, Dover, N. J. Industrial Valley Bank, Philadelphia, PA, Northeast Bank and Trust, Bangor, MA, American Federal Savings, Des Moines, IA, and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, IA.
Jeanne Finney

Jeanne Finney is originally from Minnesota and is a full time resident of Tonto Verde. Jeanne and her husband Nigel retired and moved to Tonto Verde in January 2008. They were drawn to the community by the quiet remoteness of the area and access to the activities they love.
Professionally, Jeanne received her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and then went on to medical school at the University of Minnesota. She completed her residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Following medical school Jeanne practiced with a successful private internal medicine group in Minneapolis for 22 years.
Jeanne and Nigel love the Tonto Verde community and all that it has to offer. Both are active in the Rio Verde Tennis League and the Tonto Verde Golf Club and are avid cyclists. Jeanne enjoys cooking, reading, painting, and giving back to the community she loves.
Nancy Sewell
Board Treasurer
Nancy Sewell and her husband Norm have been Arizona residents since 1995, first living in Troon North. After years of driving through Rio Verde, they decided to explore the Verdes to see what each community had to offer. Liking what they experienced, the warmth of the people they met and the sense of community, they purchased a home in Tonto Verde and became full-time residents in 2004.
Nancy received her BS in Computer Science from James Madison University. She recently retired from IBM as a Senior Managing Consultant and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt after a highly diversified 38-year career in technology, business transformation and project management. Nancy has worked with companies in both the Public and Private sectors. Some of her Public sector clients included the Office of the Secretary of Defense, National Guard Bureau, Arizona Department of Transportation and the Social Security Administration. Her Private sector work experience was with DuPont, Honeywell, American Express and GE Healthcare.
Nancy and Norm are both avid cyclists and golfers.
Marty Bowin
Board Commissioner
Marty Bowin and his wife Penny have been full time residents of Tonto Verde since 2008. Marty has served as Tonto Verde’s Firewise Chairperson since 2011 and is Vice-President of the new non-profit Verdes Wildfire Protection, Inc established in conjunction with Rio Verde Firewise.
Marty received his BS and MS Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and worked for Chevron Corporation for 37 years in various engineering, operations, and senior management positions, retiring in 2008 as VP of Chevron Pipe Line Company. He has additional experience in emergency management, industrial fire fighting, Oil Spill Response, and Pipeline Safety. Since retirement Marty has consulted part time by performing major incident prevention audits on oil industry operations around the world.
He enjoys mountain biking, hiking, running, playing golf, and photography of travel experiences, our desert surroundings and his grandchildren.
Pete Sturman
Board Commissioner
Pete Sturman and wife Eileen have been full time residents of Tonto Verde since 2001. Prior to that, they lived in Scottsdale for eight years. Pete is originally from Connecticut.
Pete spent 24 years working for the Stanley Works in various financial positions, the final of which was President and General Manager of Jensen Tools. Pete has lived in various states across the U.S. and in the United Kingdom.
Pete enjoys traveling and playing golf. He is active in Habitat for Humanity. Pete is the onsite habitat volunteer construction coordinator and a member of the Verdes Habitat Advisory Board.
